The dust has barely settled on the first phase of the Columbia Avenue reconstruction project, but the city is already getting things lined up for Phase 2.
Council voted Monday to support a grant application for over $6.6 million in funding from the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
The second phase of construction will involve Columbia Avenue from 20th Street to 24th Street.
The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is planning on paving that section of road in the spring or summer of 2020.
With the ministry funding the paving and some of the stormwater works, city staff believe now is a good time to upgrade the underground infrastructure.
The city will apply for a grant for the full funding of the project.
The city anticipates the grant and the funding provided by the ministry will cover 90 per cent of the project costs.
