THE CAUSE of a teen’s death after a punching game with friends at a party has been released and the party’s host will appear in court.
“The forensic pathologist who conducted the autopsy concluded that the likely cause of death is a condition know as commotio cordis. This is a condition in which a lethal arrhythmia known as ventricular fibrillation is triggered after a blunt, non-penetrating impact occurs to the chest, most common in sports involving projectiles such as hockey or baseball,” said the police release in regards to the death of 15-year-old Bradley Levesque, who died in January after a punching game with a friend.
“The autopsy report showed no significant findings and no anatomic cause of death. The investigation into this matter has determined that no criminal code charges are being recommended,” the release continued.
The adult host of the party will appear in court for the alleged offence of permitting a minor to consume liquor in a place under the adult’s control, which falls under the Liquor Control and Licensing Act.
