Forty-five different community projects are set to be approved for Columbia Basin Trust funding
The funding allocations for the Columbia Basin Trust’s Affected Areas an Community Initiatives Program were released in this week’s council package.
The funding allocations still need council’s stamp of approval, but that is usually just a formality after the project approval committee makes its decisions.
Forty-nine community groups requested $727,044 in funding for various projects. CBT had only $339,519 to give out, meaning most only got a fraction of what they asked for.
A few projects received their full funding request:
— The Royal Canadian Legion received $8,400 to renovate the basement, which is used by the food bank.
— The Revelstoke Museum & Archives received $6,000 to promote new exhibits and develop related school materials.
— Revelstoke Hospice Society received $8,700 for recruiting and training volunteers.
— The Revelstoke Women’s Shelter received $6,000 to ensure women and their children can successfully live in the community after fleeing violent relationships.
— The Revelstoke Aquaducks received $7,992 to purchase an LED display.
— The North Columbia Environmental Society received $15,000 to run youth programs.
Only four applications were denied outright:
— Revelstoke Coworking’s application for funding to help set up a shared office space.
— SQx Danza’s application to hold dance classes in Revelstoke.
— The Social Development Committee’s application to update its resource guides.
— The Revelstoke Skating Club’s application to buy a new laptop.
