The March board of directors meeting took place on Thursday, March 9 at the CCRD office in Bella Coola. A recording of the meeting can be found on the CCRD website www.ccrd-bc.ca, as well as the complete draft meeting minutes.

The CCRD would like to thank the participants of the Solid Waste Advisory Group: Barney Kern, Carl Harestad, Doug Baker, Drew Kovacic, Fraser Koroluk, Kerry Boileau, Marty Nygaard, Percy Schooner, Peter Fralick, Russ Hilland, Steve Dishkin, Wayne Bittner, and Wally Webber for the time that they committed to the Solid Waste Management Planning process.

Also, thank you to all those who filled out Solid Waste Surveys and congratulations to draw winner Julia Michalchuk. The Solid Waste Management Plan was approved by the board of directors and will be submitted to the Province for review and approval.

Highlights from the March board meeting include the following: The Asset Management Investment Plan (AMIP) 2017 was endorsed, along with recommendations to advance CCRD asset management planning in coming years. The AMIP provides a review of the regional district’s infrastructure assets:  what does the CCRD own? What is the cost to replace the asset?  How much money needs to be invested annually (on average) to sustain the CCRD’s assets?

An application to the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations to obtain a Forestry Licence to Cut and to amend the area of CCRD Licence of Occupation #5402268 (Snootli Creek Regional Park) was supported.  This will provide the necessary foundation to pursue works on lands in order to comply with Transport Canada regulations at the airport which ultimately will allow enhanced flight services.

The board received the Bella Coola Airport Master Plan and will consider endorsement at the June board meeting.

The board approved the 2017-2021 Five-Year Financial Plan.  The annual property tax levy increased by 2.1 percent over last year.

Wuikinuxv Nation is moving towards hydro power and anticipates having access by year end.

The next CCRD board of directors meeting will be held April 13th. As always, the public are welcome to attend.
