Council unanimously approved a self-supporting, 70-meter Rogers cell tower in the remotest corner of the city boundary at the end of Claymore Road.
The company had been searching for a location since 2014 including two proposals that received negative feedback for being too close to residents or Qualicum Beach Elementary. None of the six properties within the 200 meter notification area, including the only actual neighbour, objected to the selected location on the far end of Claymore, away from the school.
The company will pay the town $1,000 a month, increasing by 10 per cent for each of four renewable, five-year terms.
