Central Kootenay Food Policy Council creating regional farm and food directory

The Central Kootenay Food Policy Council is producing a first Central Kootenay Farm Food Directory.

The Central Kootenay Food Policy Council is producing a first Central Kootenay Farm & Food Directory in partnership with the Pennywise and invites local food producers to list their businesses for free.

The directory will be available both online and in print and Abra Brynne, coordinator of the Central Kootenay Food Policy Council, hopes that it will ultimately have around 170 businesses listed.

“We’re at the stage of really trying to reach out to the food businesses in the region so that they can populate the website and then the website has a database in the backend that we’ll be able to download and it will be made available to the Pennywise, who will do the print version of the directory,” she explains.

The directory will be made available across the region.

“We can get it into schools, libraries, tourism information booths, at food festivals, farmers’ markets. We’re going to have it everywhere we can think of where people would be looking for that kind of information,” says Brynne.

Anybody that produces their own food — farmers, food processors — can list their business for free in the directory by contacting Brynne at 250-352-5342 or abra@ckfoodpolicy.ca.

You can also visit centralkootenayfood.ca and create an account so that you can not only add your businesses information but update it in the future.

A guide on how to use the website is available at ckfoodpolicy.ca.

Brynne also says that related businesses are encouraged to purchase an ad in the directory.
