A senior who was reported missing Tuesday night (April 14) was found with the help of Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR).
The 70-year-old woman with dementia was reported missing about 9:40 p.m. after going on a walk between Grenfell Road and Rosemead Avenue.
Two ground COSAR ground teams, made up of 14 members, were called in to search four areas between Lakeshore and Gordon from Cameron Park to Highway 97.
According to COSAR, just before 11:30 p.m., the woman was spotted in a locked parking garage in one of the apartment buildings on Buckland.
COSAR was able to make contact with someone inside the apartment building who opened the parking garage gate, allowing members inside to retrieve the woman.
She was safely returned to her family with the assistance of the RCMP.
So far this year, COSAR has responded to 18 tasks, which is slightly above our average for this time of year.
