Central reopening to blow-out cobwebs

This Friday, November 1 will not only usher in a new month, but it will also mark the Grand Reopening of the Central Hotel, which is nestled between the Himalayan Spice Bistro and the Vogue Theatre.

In the past, a favourite hotspot in the Fernie nightlife, the Central will be opening its doors at no charge, and will feature music by K+Lab, local DJ’s, Kimpossible, Nemkae, KTNY, and PK Sound.

The party will kick off at 10 p.m. The Denver based, New Zealand born K+Lab, “master of intergalactic funk,” has been packing dance floors and “bringing the heat to the masses” since being on the music scene with his debut album Spacedirt in 2013, so there is no doubt he will be blowing the cobwebs out of the rafters at the Central this Friday.

The Central will serve as Himalayan Spice Bistro’s lounge and nightlife hub, where patrons can have drinks while waiting for their meals or just relax and experience the best of Fernie nightlife and culture.

Jas Tamber of Himalayan Spice Bistro is excited about the expansion of the family business model and its contribution to Fernie.

“We’ve been here three years this September,” he said. “The Central used to be a crazy hotel years ago that got closed down for a while. Twenty years ago it was the Central Bar. So we are starting it again, but our main motive is to have the Central as a pub-style lounge where people who are waiting at the Himalayan Spice in the winter time can have some drinks, and whenever their tables are ready at the Himalayan side, they can pop over. They can definitely eat in the lounge, too. Anything before 10 p.m. will be considered the Himalayan Spice, but after 10 we can have live music and drinks.”

Tamber says there will be drink specials on Friday until midnight and invites all of Fernie to come out and enjoy the free entertainment. You may even be the lucky recipient of the free snowboard giveaway!
