‘Charges may be pending’ in Moffat Bridge crash

RCMP news release says speed could be a factor in collision

  • Aug. 13, 2020 12:00 a.m.

The driver of a motorcycle involved in a head-on collision Thursday morning on the Moffat Bridge is in serious condition, RCMP said.

“A motorcycle was traveling east on Anderson Drive in the slow lane and passed a garbage truck that was in the fast lane,” the release reads. “After the rider passed the truck, he lost control of the motorcycle and collided head on with an SUV that was travelling west on the bridge deck.”

Sgt. Richard Weseen of the Quesnel RCMP detatchment said the bridge was shut down for over an hour after the crash, which took place at 10:26 a.m., while paramedics attended to the driver of the motorcycle.

“The citizens and visitors of Quesnel were very patient during this time and it was appreciated by the emergency crews on scene,” he said.

The release said speed is believed to be a factor, and charges may be pending.
