Charges recommended in crash that killed a woman walking her dog in Central Saanich

Driver faces drug impaired charges in August 2018 crash

Central Saanich police are recommending charges against a 26 year old man involved in a fatal collision on Central Saanich Road, in the summer of 2018.

Aug. 27, 2018, officers were called when a car collided with two dog walkers along the 7600-block of Central Saanich Road. Kim Ward, 51 was killed and her sister Tracy Ward, 48 was seriously injured. A dog was also killed in the collision.

The sisters were struck by a red jeep and police are charging the driver with Impaired Driving Causing Death (Drugs) and Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm (Drugs).

Sgt. Paul Brailey has said that the family are requesting privacy while Tracy Ward continues her recovery.
