Cheering for success in Mission

Classes available at Academy of Cheer Excellence for all ages

Mission’s Academy of Cheer Excellence is jumping with joy after placing in the top three at the Pacific All Star Cheer Championship in Chilliwack earlier this month.

“This is an amazing accomplishment for a gym that just opened in October,” said head coach Nicole Pasacreta. “I have never seen such hard working children.”

The Academy is the only cheerleading club in Mission. Athletes practice several times a week, perfecting routines and developing new skills.

The academy, located on Gill Avenue, is a great place to come to for recreational cheerleading or tumbling classes and fitness, said Pasacreta.

“We are here to make a difference in children’s lives both athletically and developmentally,” added Pasacreta, who has been coaching for 18 years. “Cheerleading is known for its athleticism, but behind the scenes, this sport has the ability to bring leaders out of many children.”

There are numerous categories to join and children as young as three years can participate. Preschool classes, adult classes and specialty workshops are also offered.

Cheering provides physical and mental well being for children, and the academy offers a positive competitive atmosphere and a family oriented environment, said Pasacreta.

“Our children thrive in our programs. They progress here very quickly, constantly picking up new skills and advancing to new levels,” she explained. “We work with families to provide a healthy outlet for their children to thrive.”
