Numbers will be drawn for participants wishing to ask questions at outdoor setting

Cowichan-Malahat-Langford voters will get a chance to ask questions of the candidates in the upcoming federal election at an open-air all-candidates forum at the Waterwheel Park band shell in Chemainus Sept. 16.

Candidates Alana DeLong (Conservative Party), Mark Hecht (People’s Party of Canada), Blair Herbert (Liberal Party), Alistair MacGregor (New Democratic Party) and Lia Versaevel (Green Party) have all accepted invitations to participate in the forum, which takes place four days before the Sept. 20 vote.

Organized by the Chemainus Residents Association, the forum will be an opportunity for candidates to respond to constituent concerns. The open-air venue will make it easier to comply with COVID-19 measures that are required.

The two-hour forum starts at 6 p.m. Participants are welcome to meet the candidates at provided tables in advance starting at 5:30 p.m.

Those wishing to ask questions of the candidates at the forum will be issued numbered tickets that will be drawn at random.
