It’s going to mean the end of bushwhacking to reach water for some paddlers of Chilliwack waterways.
Chilliwack council voted to put in some “blueway” access points along the Hope River and Camp River systems, as well as along the Vedder and Fraser Rivers, as part of the updated Greenspace and Trail Network plan.
Blueways, sometimes called water trails, give people launch points to access to local waterways for recreational use.

Parks planning manager Richard Fortin updated council last Tuesday on some of the latest parks additions and trails changes, as well as details on the blueway access strategy.
Coun. Sam Waddington, chair of the parks advisory committee, wasted no time getting the word out on social media about the increased recreational potential.
“City of Chilliwack Council just passed the plan that we brought forward from the Parks and Trails Committee to create Blueway Access points along Chilliwack’s watercourses on the Hope and Camp River systems, the Vedder River, and the Fraser River!
“No more bushwhacking to get your canoe or kayak to the water,” he added.
