A Chilliwack man sentenced in 2018 to seven years in jail for sexual touching a young person, and released after 10.5 months, is back in custody charged with violating conditions of his release.
Corey Bryan James Neyrinck, 35, was molesting more than one girl for years until one victim finally told students at school about it, according to Crown during a hearing in BC Supreme Court prior to his 2018 sentencing.
On all his computers and electronic devices, Neyrinck was found with 2,326 images and 307 videos that met the legal definition of child pornography.
Neyrinck ran for Chilliwack School Board in 2013 receiving 54 votes. He also served as vice president of the local District Parent Advisory Council.
Because of delays caused by Neyrinck himself, which included firing or otherwise losing six lawyers, he spent 1,374 days in pre-trial custody before that January 2018 sentencing hearing. With the standard 1.5-to-one day of time served, he was given credit for 2,061 days leaving 16 months and seven days to serve.

He was released on Dec. 4, 2018 with a plan to live in a halfway house in Surrey.
Neyrinck was on the court list in Chilliwack provincial court on May 11, 2021 facing two counts of failing to comply with a prohibition order, one from Feb. 11, 2021 the other from Dec. 1, 2020, both in Maple Ridge.
The charges come under section 161(4) of the criminal code, which prohibits sex offenders from using the internet of other digital network, unless the offender does so in accordance with conditions set by the court.
When Neyrinck was released in December 2018, the mother of his victim expressed outrage at how she was never told what was happening in the case.
“I just feel I have been kept out of loop for so long,” she told The Progress at the time. “This horrendous thing happened to my family but I feel like a stranger not knowing anything until last minute. These victims are children and as their parents we need to keep them safe. How can we do that when we aren’t kept informed?”
