Motorists are urged to slow down in December as RCMP continue to target speeding and aggressive drivers.
Chilliwack RCMP Traffic Services and front line officers served up 595 violation tickets in November as they focused their attention on the east Chilliwack and Yarrow regions.
Those numbers encompassed 261 speeding violations, including 36 for excessive speed, with some vehicles clocked at nearly twice the legal limit. Officers also handed out 76 distracted driving violations.

“Speeding and aggressive driving are among the highest type of complaints we receive from the public,” said Chilliwack RCMP Cpl. Mike Pfeifer.
“Speeding increases a driver’s risk of crashing, endangering not only themselves but other motorists, cyclists or pedestrians on the road,” added Chilliwack RCMP Cst. Mathew Ladouceur. “Slow down, pay attention to your driving, and ensure you reach your destination safely.”
Police urge anyone who sees aggressive driving behaviour to phone the local detachment, which in Chilliwack’s case can be reached at 604-792-4611.
