A young man was struck by a car Friday night on Promontory and police are now seeking any eye witnesses.
“The Chilliwack RCMP are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed a pedestrian hit-and-run collision which occurred in the area of Teskey Road and Stoneview Drive in Promontory Heights on Friday, April 3, 2020 at approximately 6 p.m.,” according to the release by RCMP Sgt. Krista Vrolyk.
Chilliwack RCMP say a 20-year-old man was hit by the driver of a white Honda, who failed to remain at the scene of the collision. The pedestrian was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
A look at the local ICBC stats shows that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle more than once every five days in Chilliwack in 2018, the highest rate in five years. Between 2014 and 2017 the number of incidents of crashes involving pedestrians in Chilliwack was 43, 50, 59 and 58, according to the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC).
