It was pretty close to the warmest place in Canada yesterday with Chinook-like winds wafting through Chilliwack.
Chilliwack saw a record-high maximum temperature of 15.5 degrees Celsius recorded at Garrison Crossing, just below the 15.9 C of North Cowichan, which was indeed the warmest place in Canada on Nov. 14.

Roger Pannett, volunteer weather observer for Environment Canada, recorded a high max of 15.5 C in his backyard on Wedneday, which was 6.8 degrees above normal for mid-November.
“It was a sub-tropical blast of warm air similar to a Chinook wind,” Pannett said, adding that the total rainfall in the 24-hour-period in Chilliwack was 36.2 mm.

Pannett said he wondered if the record-high temp made Chilliwack the hotspot in Canada or not, as the previous high maximum temperature was 15 C recorded in 1881.
Matt MacDonald, meteorologist for Environment Canada, said they use a weather station in Agassiz to represent Chilliwack weather, and the mercury hit 14.6 C on Nov. 14, so the answer was no, it did not break a longstanding record.
McDonald said the warmest spot in Canada was North Cowichan at 15.9 C.
