The Vernon Fire Department is hosting a Christmas tree drive-thru Jan. 5 and 6 to raise money for the B.C. Firefighters Burn Fund.

“It provides life-saving, life-supporting and life-enriching services to the people in B.C.,” said Chris Kulak, firefighter.

“Besides assisting burn survivors, the fund increases the public’s knowledge about fire and burn safety issues.

The Vernon fire hall is located at 3401 30th St. and the event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Off-duty firefighters will give the public a coffee-to-go and vacuum their vehicle,” said Kulak.

The trees will be chipped by members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees.
