Chris Cusack returns to court Aug. 21, Tim LaFreniere on July 17

There are new court dates for the accused in the Grand Forks and Winnipeg hotel fires and the aggravated assault in the Moto area.

Christopher James Cusack will be returning to Grand Forks on Tuesday, Aug. 21.

Cusack was recently in court for bail hearings on June 19 in Grand Forks and on June 20 in Kelowna.

“He’s had his bail hearing but he hasn’t been released yet because he has to comply with the terms of it,” said a representative at the Rossland Court Service.

According to court services, no more information can be released at this point since the case is still ongoing

Cusack is charged with two counts of arson in the Grand Forks and Winnipeg Hotel fires.

Tim LaFreniere was also in the Grand Forks courtroom on June 19 but asked for an arraignment, which will push his court date to Tuesday, July 17.

An arraignment is a formal reading of the criminal complaint in the presence of the defendant that will inform the defendant of the charges against him or her.

The accused is then expected to enter a plea.

LaFreniere is charged with aggravated assault after a fight that occurred at a local party spot called Moto (east of Grand Forks) on May 13.
