The City of Nanaimo is looking for more citizens wishing to be a part of civic government.
According to a press release, the municipality is seeking members for five different council select committees, “contributing to decision making and helping shape policy.”
Committee members are being sought to join the community planning and development, community vitality, and public safety committees, as well as the board of variance and the youth advisory council.
Citizens are being asked to sit on the committees until December 2018, except for the board of variance, which would involve a three-year term.
“Select committees enable council to receive advice, ideas and feedback from persons other than council members and staff. We encourage anyone who is interested in getting involved in their community to apply for one of the volunteer positions currently available,” said Sheila Gurrie, city clerk, in a press release.
Those interested are asked to apply by May 1. For more information about eligibility, responsibilities and committee mandates, follow this link.
