A Courtenay development company will need to satisfy several revisions before its proposal near Crown Isle Resort is considered for rezoning.
Silverado Land Corporation hopes to construct 330 single- and multi-family units on Lannan Road. Several area residents voiced concerns about stormwater management, drainage issues and downstream flooding at a public hearing in January. Others worry about losing the forested area in the neighbourhood.

At its Monday meeting, Courtenay council approved several recommended revisions from City staff. Manno Theos was the lone councillor opposed.
At an earlier meeting, Theos had said the project would increase the tax base, and offer a diversity of housing in the area. He also noted the proximity of the hospital. The rest of council, however, wanted further information before considering third reading.
The revisions are as follows:
•Tree removal will only be allowed for extensions of the Britannia Place strata and of Britannia Way.
•Relevant authorities need to approve the location of proposed stormwater management facilities.
•Stormwater management design must satisfy the City and other agencies that may be affected, depending on location.
•An appraisal is to be provided to the City determining the property value, and the value once the property is rezoned to help inform council’s decision on amenities.
•Additional consideration of transportation modes to be integrated into the proposal to reduce car dependence.
