The City of Nanaimo has expanded its communication department.
Farnaz Farrokhi has been named as the new communication manager and will begin her new role starting April 15.
According to a city press release, Farrokhi has a decade of strategic communications and public affairs experience, having previously worked for Office of the Prime Minister of Canada, Environment Canada and the British Columbia Automobile Association.
Farrokhi’s most recent position was with the City of White Rock, where she was the municipality’s manager of communications and government relations.
“Farnaz has a strong and diverse portfolio, and her great energy will further assist the city in achieving the communication excellence that the organization and community have come to expect,” said Jake Rudolph, the city’s chief administrative officer, in a press release.
Farrokhi is a graduate of Royal Roads University according to her LinkedIN page.
