Residents of the Harbour City are being asked to be mindful of increased water levels following recent heavy rains.
The City of Nanaimo is asking residents to be watch out and be aware of increased water levels near lakes and rivers, including the Nanaimo River.
The city is also urging residents to exercise caution when using trails, broadwalks, bridges, stairs and playground equipment as surfaces can be wet and slippery or near fast moving water.
“If using trails and parks this weekend, we ask residents to be mindful of those areas in our community where a high volume of water may be moving through local creeks and rivers,” Karen Lindsay, the city’s emergency program manager said in a press release.
