Did you know that in 2017 the average assessment of a single family dwelling in Revelstoke was $309,465, up 19.25 per cent from the year before?
That is just one of many fun facts that can be found in the City of Revelstoke’s 2017 Annual Report. Also included in the report are outlines of completed, ongoing and future projects as well as reports from the different city service providers.
When it comes to quality of life goals, the cities future plans include upgrades to Williamson Lake Park, as well as a traffic impact study.
Upcoming projects when it comes to future planning include reviewing and updating the cultural strategy, developing a parks, facilities and recreation master plan, reviewing and updating the zoning bylaw, creating a wayfinding strategy and completing a housing needs and demands assessment, among other objectives.
In the future for safeguarding infrastructure initiatives will include a roads and pavement plan, a stormwater plan, the completion of a water supply review study, infrastructure inspection and assessment programs, risk and hazard assessment for the animal shelter as well as a facility enhancement plan for fire rescue services.
According to the report there were 976 business licenses in Revelstoke and in order to continue growing and expanding there are extensive economic development future plans.
The city plans on strengthening transportation within Revelstoke as well as the links to other communities. They also plan on developing a comprehensive housing strategy that includes affordable housing options, employee housing options and recommendations for policy and bylaw changes.
Supporting the development of tourism opportunities, particularly in the shoulder season, through promotion and facilitation is also a priority for the city going into the future.
Implementing ongoing projects such as the Fabrication Lab, the Technology Strategy and the Food Security Strategy are also part of the plans going forward.
The report was presented to city council on June 26 and was put together in collaboration with all of the city departments.
