The City of Revelstoke has appointed a new Community Economic Development Officer, Ingrid Bron.

Bron will replace Nicole Fricot after a successful term of employment with the city.

“I am looking forward to sharing my skills and experience with the strong economic development team working to support sustainable growth in the City of Revelstoke and the Columbia Shuswap Regional District,” Bron said in a news release. “The cultural heritage of the city, the lifestyle available to its residents, and the outdoor adventures that await visitors add up to a very exciting opportunity for my family and I, and I am thrilled to be joining the organization.”

Bron hails from Westport, Ont.

Similar to Revelstoke, Bron’s previous municipal employment included challenges such as rapid growth with an unprecedented demand for residential properties and pressure on infrastructure capacity.

“Ingrid is a great fit for this position based on her education and broad range of experience,” said Allan Chabot, CAO for the city. “Ms. Bron’s knowledge of the challenges associated to rapid community growth will ensure that the City and Columbia Shuswap Regional District continue to benefit from leading edge community economic development facilitation, strategies and implementation.”

She has a Masters’ degree in Urban and Regional Planning, an Advanced Mediation Certificate, an Alternative Dispute and Conflict Resolution Certificate and is currently working toward EcD certification by the Economic Developers Association of Canada.

Bron’s most recent work experience as Economic Development & Tourism Coordinator for the Town of Smiths Falls, Ont. focused on using a multi-disciplinary approach to promote the environmental, cultural, recreational and physical assets of that community to achieve sustainable economic growth in target sectors.

“We are very excited to welcome Ingrid to the City, we consider ourselves lucky to have a candidate with such a vast knowledge of community economic development fill the position,” said Mayor Mark McKee. “I have no doubt Ingrid will be an asset to our organization and the residents of our broader community.”

Bron starts Oct. 15.
