The City of Rossland is pleased to announce the hiring of a new chief administrative and corporate officer. After a careful review of over 30 resumes, the city council has selected Mr. Bryan Teasdale to take over the top senior administrative position for Rossland.
Mr. Teasdale comes highly recommended to his new role and has years of experience in local government. He has been the chief administrative officer, corporate officer, financial officer and approving officer for the Village of Montrose. He has held the position of manager of infrastructure and sustainability at the Kootenay Boundary Regional District. In addition he has strong academic credentials from McMaster University, BC Institute of Technology and Capilano College.
Mayor Kathy Moore said: “It was extremely important to this council that we conduct a competitive and comprehensive hiring process. We were willing to take our time to find the best candidate for the job and to negotiate a contract that was similar to what other communities our size offer. It was also important that the agreement be fair to both parties and that it be reviewed by a labour lawyer.”
Mr. Teasdale has extensive experience in local government with a strong background in asset management and strategic planning. The mayor said that while council was very pleased with the caliber of the applicants on their short list, Mr. Teasdale stood out. He has the skill set council was looking for to move Rossland forward.
Mayor Moore said, “With our focus on fiscally responsible decision making, smart infrastructure planning, maintaining a positive, can-do attitude and the improved atmosphere in City Hall, we believe that Bryan is the perfect choice for Rossland. We are very excited to have him join the team and look forward to working with him for many years to come.”
The city is also seeking a new chief financial officer and council is pleased that there are some very strong candidates. Mayor Moore stated, “It was important for us to find the right chief administrative and corporate officer first. Bryan will play a primary role in hiring our finance person”.
In the meantime, Rossland has benefited from the work of both the temporary managers who have done such an excellent job since the first of the year. Interim CAO Ms. Lynne Burch will be missed when she returns to her well-deserved retirement. Mr. Steve Ash has done an excellent job as the interim manager of finance. Council extends their sincere thanks to both of them for the fine work they have done.
Mr. Teasdale will start work in Rossland in early May.
