Forget any campfires for the foreseeable future within city limits as the City of Terrace has banned all fires, and this time that includes Ferry Island.
“Effective immediately, all fires (including campfires) are prohibited within the City of Terrace. With hot and dry weather expected for the Northwest and with many local firefighting resources deployed elsewhere in the province, it has been determined that this is the best course of action for the time being. The ban now includes Ferry Island,” said the city this afternoon, Aug. 1.
Back on July 10, the city had banned all burning except Ferry Island, and then on July 28, campfires were permitted within city limits due to the wet conditions.
But the ban is back in place both in Terrace and on Ferry Island due to the recent summer heat.
(Note: The Terrace Standard that is out today was printed over the weekend, and states that the campfire ban was lifted. That has been changed since then and campfires are completely banned as stated above.)
