Adjusted for inflation, the median price of a home in Terrace is up 45 per cent since 2010, and finding a suitable place to live is getting harder.
Spearheaded by the City of Terrace and the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine (RDKS), the Greater Terrace Housing Needs Report aims to shed light on the current and future housing situation in the city.
The final report was released to the public in Dec. 2020, and the City of Terrace and RDKS are hosting two virtual information sessions on Feb. 3 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and Feb. 4 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. to help community members and stakeholders understand the findings.
Key among the findings is that the population is growing and aging, the number of renters is increasing, costs to rent and own are rising and there is a need for more subsidized low income, supportive and emergency housing options in Terrace.
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with the project team from M’akola Development Services and ask questions about the report.
