The collision occured while the police vehicle was making a traffic stop, said West Shore RCMP, adding that the collision caused non-life-threatening injuries. Christine Ackerley, communications coordinator with Provincial Health Services Authority, later said crews transported two patients to hospital for treatment.
At least six RCMP vehicles were on scene, as were highway crews, managing traffic.
