Clearwater RCMP responded to 21 calls for service over this past week. A few of the more interesting ones are highlighted below:
Back on Oct 17th, 2018, Clearwater RCMP received a report of a black 2008 Arctic Cat quad that was stolen from a property on Dunn Lake Rd. The quad is a 700cc with a black plastic bin on back, a blue plastic bin and scabbard mounts on the front. Investigation is ongoing…

Nov. 17
At 9:30 a.m. Clearwater RCMP were conducting patrols on Highway 5, northbound from Clearwater B.C. when they came upon a two vehicle collision near the turn off to Mad River Forest Service Rd, approximately 16km north of Vavenby B.C.
A 42 year-old Vancouver man was southbound driving a 2017 Freightliner bearing Manitoba plates, who described the on coming vehicle (northbound), as a grey 2013 Pontiac bearing B.C. plates, driven by a 32 year-old Little Fort man, which crossed the centre line and made contact with the semi truck.
The driver of the Pontiac was trapped inside and needed to be extracted by Blackpool Highway Rescue. He was then transported to Royal Inland Hospital by Air Ambulance as he had suffered severe injuries to his left side.
The semi driver suffered no injuries. The Pontiac and semi were towed by local tow companies. Photos and a statement were obtained from the semi driver who arranged a ride with another driver. Charges are being considered against the driver of the Pontiac.
Nov. 17
At 9:11 p.m., a 55 year-old local man reported that sometime between 7:30 p.m. and just after 8:00 p.m., someone came onto his property and pushed his Ford truck backwards into the front of his residence, in the 1100 block of Old North Thompson Highway, Blackpool, B.C.
He left without checking the residence as he did not know if anyone was still around. Police attended and found no one on the property or in the residence, but noted that someone had used a vehicle to push the complainant’s truck through his front door.
His truck was still locked and there was no damage to the ignition and the truck was still in gear. Police obtained photos of scene.
The complainant and police went through the residence and there did not appear to be any items missing. The complainant stayed elsewhere for the evening and was advised by police not to come back until daylight so better photos could be obtained and a more thorough scene examination conducted.
There were fresh tire tread patterns noted from the suspect vehicle, which police are investigating further.
Nov. 17
At 10:26 p.m., a 42 year-old Surrey man reported a single vehicle collision on Highway 5 near Burman Road, Birch Island, B.C. The man said the driver was unconscious and has epilepsy.
Police attended and found the 28 year-old Edmonton driver was still in the vehicle, incoherent and then started to seize. BC Ambulance Service and Blackpool Highway rescue attended.
The driver and passengers were transported to Clearwater Hospital where the driver was prepped to be transferred to Royal Inland Hospital as he had not regained consciousness.
Police obtained photos of the scene and spoke with the passengers who confirmed their friend was driving when he had a seizure. One of them turned the wheel towards the ditch so they would avoid having a head on accident.
Police did not note any alcohol or drugs in the vehicle. A medical incident was determined to be the causal factor of this accident. Police continue to investigate.
