Climate strikers to return to Vernon courts

Earth Strike Vernon to join global protest from noon to 3 p.m. today

Winter may be setting in and the mercury is dropping, but climate strikers aren’t done yet.

Earth Strike Vernon is participating in the Global Climate Strike on the steps of the court house from noon until 3 p.m. today.

The protests aim to raise awareness to the crisis of climate change, answering the call of 16-year-old Greta Thunburg to step up and demand change.

This isn’t Earth Strike Vernon’s first bout in the cold, as they first took the steps in February with Grade 10 student Kieran Grandbois, 16, at the helm of the demonstration.

“We’re here making ourselves known, not only to the people of Vernon but to the companies as well,” he said in February.

Fridays for Future sees students walking out of class protest. Thunburg has called for people to strike every Friday and tag and share it on social media with #FridaysforFutre and #Climatestrike.

Strikers are expected to raise their signs once again starting at noon.
