In attendance: Deputy Mayor Margaret James and councillors Daniella Dyck and Marian Nelson. Mayor Roland Stanke and Coun. Bonnie Stanke were absent.

Rick Hansen Luncheon

Max Voykin of the Rick Hansen 25th Anniversary Relay has confirmed that there will be a luncheon in the Clinton Memorial Hall on March 28, 2012 between 12:15 – 1:45 pm.

Members of the public will be able to drop by and meet the team, see the medal and learn about the Rick Hansen accessibility awareness campaign and initiatives.

Volunteer Appreciation

Council approved holding a Volunteer Night and Citizen of the Year Award for 2011 and chose Saturday, Oct. 15 as the date of the event. Notices will go out asking for nominations for citizen of the year.

Hat Creek Ranch Meeting Update

The board of the Historic Hat Creek Ranch, after much deliberation have set their meetings for the second Wednesday of each month and regrets that this will conflict with the Village of Clinton regular Council meetings.

Change in Meeting Dates

Due to the Municipal Advance Polling on Nov. 9, the regular Council meeting for that date has been moved to Nov. 16 and the Nov. 23 regular meeting has been moved to Nov. 30.

Community Transit System

Village staff will let the Village of Ashcroft know that Mayor Stanke and all councillor’s would like to be included in the meeting with Hon. Blair Lekstrom, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure at the 2011 UBCM Convention to express concerns about the BC Transit operations.

Bus service cancelled

The bus service to near Kelly Lake to pick up and return two school age children has been cancelled. This service will not be available when school resumes in September.

Village staff was directed to get more information as to when that decision was made and by whom as the Village of Clinton had no prior knowledge of this decision until receiving a copy of a letter sent to the bus operator.

Support for Seniors’ grant

In response to a request from Zee Chevalier, secretary-treasurer of the Clinton Seniors Association, council moved to write a letter of support for the association’s grant application to New Horizons for Seniors Program. The Seniors Association is need of funds to have a new roof installed at the Clinton Seniors Association Centre at 217 Smith Avenue.

Next Meeting

The next regular meeting of council is Sept. 14 at 7 pm.
