The Sew Sisters Artist Guild Society (SSAGS) is selling raffle tickets for its collective quilt. This project, launched in March, will produce a beautiful handmade king-sized quilt, which will be raffled during Empire Days in Cumberland this weekend.Conceived and designed by Sew Sisters artist, member and acting president Isabelle Perry and her daughter Shiva, the piece has been lovingly composed of 100 squares each purchased and created by or sponsored by people all over Cumberland & the Comox Valley. Within each individual square there is endless freedom: the pattern dictates only size, shape and colour (so that the square fits into the image as a whole;) beyond this any medium, texture or fabric is fair game. The full image on this comfy quilt will remain a surprise until its unveiling during the Empire Days Parade in Cumberland. After the parade, the quilt will be displayed at the Sew Sisters Artist Guild Society at 2702B Dunsmuir Ave. for viewing. Raffle tickets, $5 each or three for $10, are available at Sew Sisters, through members, during Empire Days and at the parade. The project aims to raise funds to assist Sew Sisters, a Cumberland-based non-profit artist guild, in its various community projects (including supplies for the beautiful community garden, Building Brothers, H.E.L.P. Network, sewing supplies, needles and fabric, workshops and general maintenance.)— Sew Sisters Artist Guild Society
