The president of Northwest Community College (NWCC)  was sworn in as Canadian citizen during a ceremony in Prince Rupert June 13.

Henning was joined by 24 other new-Canadians, including her husband John, at NWCC’s Prince Rupert campus.

Originally from Oklahoma, Henning came to Terrace from a job as president of the University College of the North based in The Pas in northern Manitoba. She took over the reigns at NWCC on March 1 of this year.

“My husband John and I are happy that this has finally happened,” Henning said, of her new dual-citizenship.

“We have loved our experiences here in Canada and our dual status will allow us to vote and fully participate in both the countries that we hold dear.”
