Columbia Basin Broadband Corporation extends deadline for free connection

The CBBC is extending the deadline for downtown businesses to receive a free connection to the broadband network.

The Columbia Basin Broadband Corporation is extending the deadline for downtown businesses to receive a free connection to the broadband network when they sign up through a service provider.

Businesses and organizations in the Rossland downtown core now have until the end of the business day on Wednesday, April 27 to sign up for access to broadband. The extension is to accommodate the business owners that are still in discussion with local Internet service providers (ISPs) about how the network could benefit their business.

“Given that there are so many discussions underway and given that people want to make sure they make the right decision and we want to be respectful of the time they need for that, we are going to extend our offer to provide a free installation, a free connection off the network into the individual business site when those businesses sign up for a year of service with an ISP,” says Aimee Ambrosone, COO for CBBC.

So far she says the network is working well and CBBC is pleased with the number of businesses that have signed up to use it.

“The network continues to perform well,” says Ambrosone. “We always want to make sure that we’re putting our best technical foot forward, so everything is working well on the network.… We’re pleased with the uptake and response, and haven’t heard any complaints from any customers.”
