A commercial vehicle struck the light standard at the corner of Jacklin and Sooke roads Wednesday morning, causing minor delays.

According to the West Shore RCMP, the driver was familiar with the area and tried to make a right hand turn on to Sooke Road when he struck the light standard, causing a wire to rest over the load and trapping the driver in the vehicle until help arrived.

The driver was not injured. Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement is investigating.

Emergency crews were on scene. West Shore RCMP closed off part of the road during the incident, but it has since been re-opened.
