A cooking area will soon be available for community members. Golden’s community kitchen will be celebrating its official opening on Wednesday June 29.
Community kitchens offer an environment where people can feel safe and learn how to cook and make meals. It is an area to share recipes and make food that can be brought home with you.
Golden’s community kitchen was funded greatly by the New Horizons for Seniors Program and the Grant and Aid program.
It is equipped with all the required necessities for a kitchen including a fully functional stove.
To celebrate its official opening, the Centre For Peace at St. Andrews United Church will be welcoming the public. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., locals are welcome.
The night will include a ribbon cutting with Mayor Christina Benty and a screening of The Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil.
