Community members and business owners in the immediate vicinity of the Yale Road Modular Supportive Housing project are invited to apply to sit on the Community Advisory Committee (CAC) of the RainCity Housing and Support Society.
The deadline to apply was originally April 30, but there are still a few seats open, said Bill Briscall, RainCity Housing’s manager of fund development and communications.
Members will discuss issues and monitor progress, working towards constructive solutions to issues that arise at the supportive housing facility, according to the committee description.
“It’s all about input, not about power,” Briscall said.

He said the advisory committee is not a decision-making body but rather it is more focused on dialogue.
“The important thing is the geographical requirement of committee members. We want residents and business people who live and work nearby,” Briscall said.
There will be five to seven community representatives on the committee, along with reps from RainCity, City of Chilliwack, RCMP, Fraser Health and BC Housing.
“It (the CAC) plays a key role in addressing concerns and helping to successfully integrate the building and its residents into the community,” according to the RainCity website.
The modular supportive housing facility will be moving tenants in soon at 45944 Yale Road.
