It was a snowy day in Vavenby on Oct. 2; not many preschoolers made it to Strong Start.
The first child to arrive practiced her cutting skills with the scissors, she then did an art activity and had help printing her name on it.
After snack time some foam painting was done and then the two girls present practiced counting from one to 10.
The numbers were on different coloured pieces of felt so an awareness of what numbers and what colours looked like was also done.
The elementary school’s scary toilet’s been quickly making its way around town—several residents have already discovered it on their lawns and sent it on its way. Beware the toilet!
Sept. 28 was a hot lunch day for the elementary students. Everyone went over to the sand pit by the school property and had a wiener roast.
Besides the hot dogs, the yogurt tubes, hot chocolate, and apples were also provided by the Parents Advisory Committee.
There’s a barbecue at the community hall Sunday from 1:00–3:00 p.m. Firefighters will barbecue hotdogs and hamburgers. A couple fire trucks will be on the grounds for children to look at. The barbecue is by donation, so come out for a good time.
This month’s movie at Vavenby Christian Church is To Sir, With Love. It’ll be shown Oct. 19 at 7:00 p.m. The church doors open at 6:30.
There’ll be snacks and beverages. Everything is free.
