Community organizations receive telethon funding

Last year's event raised over $108,000

Some of the recipients of funding from the 2018 Kitimat Telethon gathered at the Delta King Place to receive their cheques – it just so happened it was also Friday, March 15, just before St. Patrick’s Day, so the theme was green!

Kitimat Community Foundation president Sarina Germuth said the telethon, in its 39th year, raised $145,000 during the event, with the total grants handed out for 2019 at $108,793.81.

“The funding goes to well deserving organizations within our community to provide assistance towards beneficial programs meeting the criteria presented,” said Germuth.

“The grant money is raised with incredible support from local and area residents, businesses, as well as those from out of town. Both from the donations and volunteers aspects the telethon has been a proven success for the past 39 years. The support from everyone is truly inspiring.”
