It was just a matter of housekeeping, but it was a key piece of the Brooklyn-Lazo puzzle.The school board voted Tuesday to reopen Cape Lazo School, which will enable students from the Brooklyn Elementary School neighbourhood — who are currently divided between Brooklyn and Cape Lazo — to be reunited in one building this September.In a quick vote with no discussion, trustees rescinded the motions to close Cape Lazo Middle School, which were made by bylaw in 2008 at the May 13 and May 15 meetings.The school board had already voted in January to close Brooklyn, effective June 30, and to move toward educating all the students in that community at Cape Lazo Elementary School in September.The bottom floor of Cape Lazo is currently leased to the Conseil scolaire francophone (CSF) while the CSF builds a new school for its students.
