Courtenay-Comox MLA Ronna-Rae Leonard announced funding for addictions treatment and recovery services that will provide a boost for providers and offer people struggling with addictions a measurel of support during COVID-19.
Financial support is being provided to the Comox Valley Recovery Centre Society, the Comox Valley Transition Society, and the Stepping Stones Recovery House for Women Society. Each organization will receive between $25,000 and $45,000.
These are three of 53 organizations receiving support as part of $2 million in government funding being distributed across B.C. These grants support existing bed-based treatment and recovery services, and are an investment in quality living environments where people can focus on their recovery journey.
“Like lots of organizations, substance treatment and recovery centres have been under a lot of pressure during the pandemic—at a time when the services they provide are more important than ever,” Leonard said. “We’re supporting these organizations to make sure they can be there for people, no matter what.”
