Drug Trafficking
On Oct. 3, 2018, at approximately 2:40 p.m., the Comox Valley RCMP Drug Section observed what they believed to be the purchase of a controlled substance in Courtenay.
Police officers approached the individuals and arrested both the buyer and the seller of the controlled substance. Following this, police executed a search warrant on a vehicle and residence. Lucas Koper, a 30-year-old man from the Comox Valley, has been charged with breaching his probation and possession of a controlled substance. This investigation is ongoing with more charges expected. Break and Enter
On Oct. 9, 2018, the Comox Valley RCMP received a report of a break and enter to a residence up in the Mount Washington community – except this was not the first break in to that residence. The suspect(s) broke into the residence for the first time sometime within the two weeks before the report; however, it was not reported to police at that time.
The suspect(s) returned to the residence sometime after that for a second break and enter. It is likely that the suspect(s) entered the residence through an unlocked window. Nothing appears to have been stolen from the residence and investigators are being assisted by the Integrated Forensic Identification Section. (2018-14371).
Delivery Assault
On Oct. 8, 2018, a food delivery person reported an assault on the 1000-block of Cumberland Road, in Courtenay. The delivery person was bringing food to a customer when the customer became upset and allegedly assaulted the delivery person after their food took too long to arrive and they did not wish to pay for it. The suspect is described as a Caucasian female with mid-length brown curly hair, about 5’0 tall with a small build. The investigation is continuing as police work to identify the suspect. Fence Cut
On Oct. 11, 2018, a business located on the 1500-block of McPhee Avenue in Courtenay reported that the fence to their compound had been cut overnight. This is the third time this has happened at the same business. (2018-14497)
Stolen U-Haul Recovered in Comox
On Oct. 10, 2018, the Comox Valley RCMP recovered a truck which had been reported stolen from Nanaimo back in July. The investigator is being assisted by the Integrated Forensic Identification Section as the investigation continues. (2018-14418).
Gas Siphoning
For the second time in October, there has been a report of someone siphoning gas from vehicles parked at the Comox Valley Marina. The Comox Valley RCMP are asking anyone in the area to be watchful and to call police and report any suspicious activity. (2018-14483).
Excessive Speed
On Oct. 14, 2018, a member of the Comox Valley RCMP Municipal Traffic Section was conducting patrols on Vanier Drive in Courtenay when he spotted a vehicle which appeared to be travelling well over the posted speed limit. The officer confirmed the vehicle was travelling 100km/hr in a 50km/hr speed zone. The driver was issued several violation tickets and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days. (2018-14623).
