The City of Courtenay will be working on the water distribution system on the Old Island Highway at Puntledge Road next week, in front of the Lewis Centre. Construction is scheduled to begin Tuesday, Oct. 16, with completion expected by Friday, Oct. 19.

During this time, traffic on the Old Island Highway at the Puntledge Road intersection will be one lane in each direction. Westbound traffic will be directed to use the two-way left turn lane. Traffic control personnel will be on site daily to direct vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists around the work area.

The work will also result in a planned temporary water service interruption in the area overnight on Wednesday, Oct. 17 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning. The outage has been planned overnight to minimize impacts to area businesses and services. Properties that will be affected by the planned water service outage are being notified directly.
