Contractors dig into construction of union office in Terrace

Traffic has been detoured on Kalum St. by Lazelle and Park Ave. for work on the BCGEU office

City of Terrace Public Works contractors have dug into Kalum St. between Lazelle and Park Ave. to lay water and storm lines on Thursday for the new union office.

The hole in the street has forced crews to detour traffic from the portion of the 3200 block of Kalum St. It should be reopened Saturday.

The water lines going under the street are for the B.C. Government and Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU) office, being relocated from the Lazelle Mini Mall where the union has rented space for years.

The project, led by Wales McLelland Construction from Richmond, is set to be finished July 2018.
