Convicted murderer John Norman MacKenzie is still at large after escaping from the Mission Correctional Institution in August of 2018.
In an effort to locate the missing inmate, the Mission RCMP have announced a new partnership with the BOLO program, which is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the capture of MacKenzie
Speaking at RCMP headquarters in Surrey on Wednesday morning, Mission’s Officer in Charge Insp. Stephen Corp said Mackenzie was reported missing from the institution on Aug. 7, 2018 and it was quickly determined that he had escaped and was at large.

“The initial investigation revealed that Mackenzie was considered a low key inmate, but also that he is extremely intelligent and computer savvy. Mackenzie has been known to carry fake documents such as driver’s licences and passports,” explained Corp.
The Mission RCMP believe Mackenzie may have fled Canada and is currently at large internationally.
MacKenzie was serving a life sentence for second-degree murder and armed robbery, among other offences.
Corp said despite police efforts, he has not been located.
“Today in an effort to bring awareness and help locate John Mackenzie, the Mission RCMP are partnering with the BOLO program,” said Corp, adding the RCMP is hopeful the new relationship with the program will be the key to locating McKenzie.
The Bolo (Be On The Lookout) program is a Canada-wide initiative using social media and technology to make sure the public is on the lookout for Canada’s most wanted. People can report sightings and submit tips to help the police arrest suspects.
Maxime Langlois, head of the BOLO program was also at Wednesday’s announcement and said his group is proud to launch its fourth campaign in the Lower Mainland.
MacKenzie is described as a Caucasian male, 59 years old and approximately 5’8″ tall and weighing 197 pounds. He has light brown hair and blue eyes.
