Thanks to the ongoing cool conditions, BC Wildfire Service has been able to directly attack the Nk’Mip Creek Wildfire.

The colder temperatures, high humidity and recent precipitation have meant there has been minimal growth on the 20,066-hectare fire.

Crews stationed on the fire are working to finalize containment along the northeast of the fire while mop-up continues on the other sections.

Thanks to the favourable conditions, crews have been able to directly attack the flames on the perimeter of the wildfire along the fireguards built along the excursion near Mount Baldy and the northeast corner of the blaze.

Thanks to the cooler temperatures and progress on containment, the structural protection crews were removed from the Mount Baldy area.

The Australian team who had been commanding the fire turned over command back to the BC Wildfire Service on Friday, and Canadian Armed Forces members who were deployed on the Thomas Creek and Nk’Mip Creek wildfires were transferring up to Vernon before redeploying to other fires in the province.
