The Cops For Kids charity cycling tour hit Greenwood last Saturday, as the Deadwood Junction welcomed the riders with an array of tasty high-energy snacks and endless bottles of water. The team of cyclists has averaged over 100 kilometres per day since the ride began on Sept. 11, and they will wrap up the tour in Kelowna on Sept. 21. In total, the Cops For Kids, which is made up of RCMP officers from across the province, will cover approximately 1,000 kilometres.

As well, Greenwood mayor Ed Smith chipped in with money raised from his mock jailing. The mayor was “arrested” at his home earlier and escorted to the Deadwood Junction jail for a brief incarceration, as donations were made to either keep Smith locked up or release him. At last count, it was an even split.
