Cops tell residents fireworks okay

Recent popping of fireworks in Terrace streets is permitted for period spanning Halloween, RCMP tell concerned citizens

The Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 97 calls for service from Oct. 24, 8 a.m. till Oct. 27, 8 a.m. During the same time period 14 people were lodged in Terrace Cells.  Nine of these people were lodged for intoxication. The following are descriptions of the calls responded to:

Breach of a Conditional Sentence Order by consuming alcohol. Police arrested a 37 yr old man. He is held for court.

Assist Conservation Officers with a grey Nissan Titan pulled over on Hwy 37 south on Industrial Way. Drugs and alcohol were seized. The 37 yr old driver provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in a warn. He was served an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.

Numerous calls were received about fireworks being set off in the City Limits. Police explained that it is legal to use fireworks from Oct 24 to Nov 2.

Group of youth egging vehicles and houses in the 4900 block of Straume Ave.

A man freaking out and slamming doors at a residence. Police apprehended a 39 yr old man under the Mental Health Act.

Possible theft of shingles. Four men were observed loading shingles into a black truck with a silver tailgate and a headache rack at 1:30 AM on October 25th at a construction site in the 4900 block of Davis Ave.

A black 2004 Ford F150 was pulled over on Lakelse Ave. The 59 yr old driver provided two samples of breath that resulted in fails. He was served an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.

Loss Prevention Officer of Walmart arrested a 47 yr old man for shoplifting. Police spoke with the man. He is banned from the store.

Group of teens throwing fireworks at people out of the window of a grey 2006 Pontiac G6 driving down Munroe St. Under investigation.

Police observed a group of men drinking alcohol on Lakelse Ave. Checks determined that one of the men was in breach of a Conditional Sentence Order by being outside of his residence past set hours and under the influence of alcohol. The 28 yr old man was arrested and is held for court.

Domestic assault. Police arrested a 28 yr old intoxicated man. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

A man was denied service at Chances and was asked to leave. He refused then assaulted staff when he was escorted outside. Police located the 29 yr old man later in the evening. He attempted to flee from police but was out run and arrested. He was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital for assessment. No injuries. He was in breach of undertaking condition of no consume alcohol. He is held for court.

Abandoned 911 call from a cell phone that went missing on October 23rd.

Domestic dispute on Greig Ave. An intoxicated 27 yr old woman was uncooperative with police and was arrested. Police attended to a residence and arrested a 26 yr old woman for assault. Under investigation.
