Vandalism:
• A Corvette parked on Fourth Avenue was keyed on March 22. There are no suspects.
Fraud:
• A senior male was scammed out of $1,500 in an Internet scam on March 22. The man was trying to sell his travel trailer.
Assault:
• Police were called to a domestic disturbance on Thetis Island on March 22. The couple is known to police.
• A woman was assaulted by a man on Shell Beach Road on March 25. Police are still investigating.
• Police were called to a domestic disturbance on Eagle Crescent on March 23. A male was arrested and charged with assault.
• A man was charged with assault after a domestic disturbance in front of the McDonald’s in Ladysmith on March 26.
• A teenager was punched in the face by another teen during a wedding reception at the Chemainus Rec Centre on March 27. The victim needed six stitches to his cheek.
Alcohol-related offences:
• An intoxicated male hit a power pole while on his scooter on Chemainus Road on March 22. The male left the scene before police arrived.
• An intoxicated teenage male was hit by a vehicle while running across the Trans Canada Highway on March 23. Police were unable to find the male.
• Several vehicles were stopped for a roadside check on March 26 in Ladysmith. A few drivers were charged under the new impaired driving laws.
• An intoxicated male was staggering along Buller Street on March 27. The man fell face down onto the pavement and was taken by paramedics to the hospital for observation. He was not identified and was too intoxicated to say anything.
Theft:
• A pickup truck was stolen from High Street on March 23. The vehicle was later recovered. There are no suspects.
• A vehicle was rummaged through and some items were stolen while parked along Buffalo Trail on March 23.
• Gas supplies and other items were stolen from a Western Forest Products compound on March 23. Preventive measures have been taken.
• A milk can of sentimental value was stolen from a woman’s front porch on Saltair Road on March 23.
• An ATV was stolen from a tent in a backyard on Carmichael Road on March 23.
• A Dodge Neon was stolen along Hallberg Road on March 23. The vehicle was later recovered nearby.
• A stereo system was stolen from a vehicle along White Road on March 23.
• Power tools were stolen from a house under construction on Colonia Drive on March 24.
• Some vehicles were rummaged through along Hallberg Road, March 24.
Motor vehicle accidents:
• No one was hurt after a three-vehicle crash on Rocky Creek Road on March 26. One vehicle had to be towed and one driver was issued a ticket for not having a driver’s licence.
